Winter Wonderland Wows all in Attendance

Hundreds of people gathered on December 2nd at YWCA New Britain’s Winter Wonderland. This was the 5th annual event, and the best yet.
The event is fun for the whole family and features a Yule Boutique shopping experience, a variety of children’s activities, a dance performance, and much more. Local businesses such as Quilting After Dark, Wholly Goat Farm, Gold Canyon Candles/Ashley’s Candle Shop, Creative Jars, and A Knight’s Tale were just some of over thirty vendors that set up shop at the Yule Boutique. Weaving through the aisles of artisans, crafters, bakers, and creatives, guests were sure to find a gift for everyone on their holiday shopping list.

A new addition this year was the Children’s Shopping Boutique where children could visit Santa’s Workshop and experience the thrill of doing their own shopping. Elves helped the children pick out small gifts for their parents or family members.

“The Children’s Shopping Boutique was an idea our Engagement Committee came up with. In addition to children’s activities like making ornaments, face painting, and balloon animals, the kids could also feel special shopping for their family members,” said Youth Sports Coordinator and Engagement Committee Representative Rebecca Mirando.

The event also featured a teacup raffle for a chance to win various prizes, and of course…pictures with Santa!

After everyone got in the Christmas spirit, it was time for the holiday show performed by YWCA School of Dance students. This year’s production was How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

“The Holiday Show was great!” said Performing Arts Director Christine Kuzia, “Our students worked hard to get this performance together, I’m so proud of them. I also want to thank The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain for sponsoring the event, we couldn’t have done it without them!”

YWCA New Britain wishes everyone a happy, healthy holiday season!
