The 109th Annual Meeting of YWCA New Britain was held in June at the Back Nine Tavern in New Britain. The meeting gathered together staff, volunteers, board members, and friends to celebrate YWCA’s successes in the past year.
Every year at the Annual Meeting we recognize outstanding volunteers and the invaluable work they do for us. This year awards were presented to Gina Beecham by the Sexual Assault Crisis Service, Deborah Boynton by Administration, Lorena Leon by the childcare department, and Sydni Stafford by the STRIVE program.
In addition to the business meeting and volunteer recognition awards, YWCA recognized Deborah Boynton, member of the Board of Directors, for her dedication and service as her board term came to an end.
Members voted on a slate of new directors at the meeting. We would like to welcome the newest members of our Board of Directors Fawatih Abouh, Donna Clark, and Tudy Miller-Fulton.
This year's meeting was bittersweet as we said goodbye to longtime Executive Director Robin Sharp and welcomed in our new Executive Director, Tracey Madden-Hennessey. Tracy Nixon-Moore, President of the Board of Directors, Kurtis Denison, Chair of the Board of Trustees, and Erin Stewart, Mayor of the City of New Britain, all made remarks about the lasting impact of the work Robin has led through her 15-year tenure with the YWCA.
Mayor Stewart said, “Robin, thank you, honestly, from the bottom of my heart and on behalf of the New Britain community. What you’ve done for the YWCA and what you’ve done for the greater New Britain community…is absolutely visible in our city.”
YWCA New Britain would like to thank the Board of Directors and Trustees for their dedication and leadership, and all of our members, employees, volunteers, donors, and friends who help us remain steadfast in carrying out our important mission of eliminating racism and empowering women. You have helped us have another amazing year!
