Update on YWCA COVID-19 Policies

Dear Parents and Participants:

Beginning May 24, we will be opening the agency for parents and individuals to drop off and pick up children from their child’s childcare/program classroom, in addition to fitness members.

As you are aware, the state of Connecticut has lifted many of the mandates related to COVID for those who are vaccinated.  Given that children under age 12 are not vaccinated, MASKING IN CHILDCARE CENTERS AND YOUTH PROGRAMS IS STILL REQUIRED.  This is a mandate of The Connecticut Office of Early Childhood.

All individuals entering the building (regardless of vaccination status) must remain masked in the lobby, hallways, common areas, playground, gyms (when used by youth), and throughout the childcare center.  The YWCA front desk staff are happy to assist any individual without a mask and keep extra masks on hand.  Please ask for assistance if you need a mask.

As masks are required upon entry, those who enter the building without a mask will be given a mask to wear and are required to do so.  Those who refuse to wear a mask or who are observed not wearing a mask in the required areas will be asked to leave the building.  Parents and others who come to pick up children must be masked the entire time they are in the building.  Those not cooperating with this requirement will not be allowed to enter the building and may jeopardize their child’s place in YWCA programs.

Fitness Members participating in classes or using the fitness center, may remove their masks if they are vaccinated while in locker rooms, classrooms, restrooms, and fitness hallways if children are not present.

We appreciate your cooperation with this requirement.  YWCA Staff will continue to monitor changing state regulations and make changes as required or allowed.

Sincerely,

Tracey Madden-Hennessey

Executive Director
