Annual Meeting Celebrates Resilience Through COVID-19 Pandemic

Staff, volunteers, board members, community members, and friends gathered virtually for YWCA New Britain’s 111th Annual Meeting to celebrate our positive impact within the community this past year.

Lisa Amodio and Stacey Ormsby, members of the Board of Directors; Jeff Barlow, Kurtis Denison, and John Downes, members of the Board of Trustees, were recognized for their dedication and service to YWCA New Britain as their board terms came to an end.

Prior to the meeting, members voted electronically on a slate of new directors and officers. We extend a warm welcome to Barbara Gurr, Tenniel Hacker, Esther Santana, and Monica Stellmacher, the newest members of our Board of Directors. We would also like to welcome Juan Berrios, Nicolin Carr, Gabriella DiBlasi, and Regen O’Malley to the Board of Trustees.

Volunteers also received well earned recognition for their work in advancing the mission of YWCA New Britain. Thank you to this year's Outstanding Volunteers: Brianna Chaparro, Kurtis Denison, The Farrell Family, Sarah Kavarnos, Alexis Mercado, and Mallory Pinto.

“We are very appreciative of all our volunteers and the invaluable work they do for us,” said Executive Director Tracey Madden-Hennessey. “We couldn’t accomplish all we have without them.”

YWCA New Britain would like to thank the Board of Directors and Trustees for their commitment and leadership, and all of our friends and partners who continue to aid us in carrying out our important mission of eliminating racism and empowering women. Even through the uncertainty and unprecedented times created by the COVID-19 pandemic, you helped us have another amazing year!
