Advocacy

We can make a difference

  • Along with being a resource in the community, an important role of YWCA is to provide education and information on public policy that impacts the lives of women and their families locally and nationally.

  • In addition to our programs and services, YWCA takes an active approach to advocacy and raising awareness about challenges that women face in our community.

  • We work to identify the most pressing needs of the women and children and fight for them so that we can turn conditions around.

  • YWCA staff lobby, participate in press events, write letters, make phone calls to legislators, and provide testimony in an effort to achieve our objectives

We focus our advocacy efforts on:

  • Racial Justice & Civil Rights

  • Empowerment & Economic Advancement of Women and Girls

  • Health & Safety of Women and Girls
