Meet Our Instructors

Kayla Gibson, Performing Arts Manager

Kayla is the Performing Arts Manager here at the YWCA. She has been an instructor for 15 years. She has experience in all levels of dance from working with our Twinkle Toes to our Advanced Teens. Kayla teaches several styles of dance including tap, ballet, jazz, hip hop and lyrical. She started dancing at the YWCA at the age of two while taking dance classes from her mom “Miss Chris.”  She then went on to broaden her dance experience by taking classes at United Rhythm, Beyond Performance and with Kelly Gagliardi- Dieguez from Velocity. Kayla enjoys sharing her love and passion for dance with her students.

Kacey Kuzia, Head Dance Instructor

Kacey is a head dance instructor at the YWCA School of Dance. Kacey has been dancing since she was two years old.  She teaches tap, ballet, jazz, lyrical, and hip-hop. Her favorite styles are tap, hip-hop and ballet. She also was the Assistant Choreographer for the Plainville Choral Society Youth Theater. Her greatest accomplishment is watching her students enjoy dance as much as she does.

Becca Swol, Head Dance Instructor

Rebecca has been teaching dance at the YWCA for seven years and took dance classes with Miss Chris for 14 years before that.  Dance and Disney are her two favorite things so it's a dream come true to combine both while teaching the younger classes here! The teachers and student teachers inspire her so much with their dedication and creative ideas; they really make this place a family. She's been having a blast here since day one and can't wait to see what another dance year will bring!

Morgan Ruszczyk, Dance Instructor

Morgan was a student at the YWCA for 15 years and began student teaching when she was 13. She thinks of the YWCA as her second home. She loved going to class every week and to student teach every Saturday. Now that she is a teacher Morgan finds herself excited to teach classes with dancers who love coming to class every week like she did.  She enjoys seeing classes full of kids that want to learn to dance but, most importantly, she loves to see the kids grow up and become beautiful dancers knowing that she had helped and inspired them.

Jakara Fargas, Dance Instructor

Jakara danced at the YWCA for 15 years, taking classes in tap, ballet, jazz, hip hop, and lyrical.  While in high school, she was a student dance teacher assisting with classes with children ages 3-10.  She has now been teaching hip hop for ages 6-9 at the YWCA for the past three years.  Jakara is so happy to bring her love of dance to her students.

Linda Nichisti, Dance Instructor

Linda began her dance journey right here at the YWCA taking tap, ballet, and jazz classes right up through the end of high school.  After a 10 year hiatus, during which she graduated from UConn, got married, and started a family, the stage called her back home to the YWCA. She had come to adore the beauty of ballet, so upon her return she came back to pointe classes, learning new things that would later help her develop her own teaching style. Rising to the rank of teacher, Linda brings her passion for the art, a creative flare to her choreography, and a genuine love for her students. Linda’s goal each year is to inspire her students and cultivate that sense of community that brings her, and her family, to the YWCA.

Meghan Foy, Head Dance Team Coach

Meghan’s passion for dance first began at the YWCA where she grew up taking and student teaching dance classes. She minored in dance at Springfield College and acted as the treasurer for the Springfield College Dancers for three years where she organized and choreographed various performances. Meghan is so excited to be back teaching at the YWCA where she hopes to help her students fall in love with dance just like she did.
