Rebecca also competed for Southington High School, where she currently still holds the school's uneven bar record and was Class L All Around State Champion her freshman year. Rebecca has experience coaching different levels, from "Me & My Shadow" classes to working with competitive level gymnasts.
Chantel Blake, Class Instructor
Chantel has 9 years of gymnastics experience and 3 years of being on a competitive high school cheerleading team. She is continuing her passion for cheerleading at the University of Hartford. Being able to teach what she loves to do has driven her back to the YWCA, which she has grown to love ever since she was little. It gives her great joy to be able to help kids fulfill and meet their goals as well as grow their love and passion for gymnastics.
Jaylah Green, Class Instructor
Jaylah has been a competitive cheerleader for four years and head captain of her senior year team. She started working at YWCA New Britain in June of 2017 as a youth sports instructor, and now works in the gymnastics and karate programs.
Jose Ortega, Class Instructor
Jose is originally from Puerto Rico and moved to CT when he was seven years old. A well-rounded athlete, he has participated in 11 different sports. He is a highly motivated person with an inspirational personality, and he aims to pass those qualities down to those he coaches. Jose particularly enjoys working with children because he feels it is important to show them how to be respectful and kind, and show them the importance of teamwork in sports. He identifies with YWCA's mission to empower people and bring them together in order to succeed. Through his teaching, he hopes to show children that they can be whatever they want as long as they put their heart and soul into it, both in sports and in life.
